I've dreamed that I was inside an elevator that moves sideways. It does have the capacity to move up or down, but this one mainly moves sideways. In the dream, which has been a recurring dream, I'm always the only one inside the elevator. I don't remember choosing any floor. When it stops moving, like if it has arrived at its destination, I can hear the traditional "ding" sound; the doors open yet no one comes in nor I go out. At this point the dream momentarily changes from 1st person to 3rd person, with me outside the elevator looking at myself inside the elevator not coming out nor anyone else coming in. After a moment the doors close again and the elevator starts moving again in the opposite direction, and I'm back in 1st person view.
The recurring dream of being inside an elevator that moves sideways can symbolize your feelings of being stuck or uncertain in your life. The sideways movement suggests that although you have the capability of moving up or down, you are only moving laterally, and not making progress towards your goal. The fact that you are alone in the elevator can mean that you feel isolated or alone in your current situation. The "ding" sound signifies the arrival of opportunities or new paths that are available to you, but you are hesitant to take them or unsure of which direction to go. The shift from 1st person to 3rd person view represents your self-objectification or detachment from your own experiences. It is important to pay attention to the patterns in your dreams and take action in your waking life to move towards your desired goals and aspirations.
